Pro, Mechanics check this out.Posted by Alvin n Ms. on November 11, 2003 at 06:25:50 from (68.32.242.208):
on my 1955 F600. New drums, shoes, brake hoses, master cylinder, and brake booster and even the brake light switch. After replacing all that stuff, the brakes would still not stay up. Bled the master cyl and vac. booster till I about dropped and could still not get the brakes to stay up without pumping them. I called on an a master mech. for Ford Trucks all his active life. He just chuckled and said the only way to get all the air out of the system was to get the rear wheel brake cylinders up higher than the master cylinder then bleed the system two or three times. Hung the old truck by the rear from a great big oak tree in the pasture and it worked like a charm. Not a single problem since! He stated that there was a tool that would power bleed the brake system, but he didn't like it because it was just not reliable enough to get brake jobs out of his shop in good time.
