460 ford

My son just bough A 79 f250 with a 460 with a leakey hamonic balincer seal. how is that seal put in. is it put in the front. or the rear like on the fe motors. and how can I tell if it has the unaversal tranny mounting bolt pattern. if it is still in the truck?
