Change out 3 speed to AutomaticPosted by Mario on December 11, 2002 at 22:02:53 from (208.180.24.87): I have a 70 1/2 ton 4x4 with a 3 speed on the column. I would like to convert it to an automatic. I have available a TH400 from a 77-78 4x4. What I'm not sure of, is if this particular transmissin will work without a lot of modifications. Will I need a different transmission support than whats already there? Will I need to change out the tail end of the transmission so It will fit the transfer case? Should I use a TH350 since I think it is shorter? As you can see I'm just not sure what I may be getting into. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks
