Is the ' green ' wire light guage ? if so
it's probably the charge indicator, hook up
testlight, should light with key on, go out when
running.

I'm assuming you have a built in regulator
type alternator [ CSI ] If you have a
firewall mounted regulator, two green, or a green
and a yellow, supply AC to the regulator
[ field current style regulator ]

Was the 427 stock, or a swap ??? Good luck
