1959 ford step/breadvanPosted by grego on September 23, 2002 at 09:12:42 from (168.103.223.212):
i have a 59 bread truck, it has a 223 -6cyl, w/ a 3 speed on the floor. when the gen. got swapped for an alt. they put a chevy delco w/a spacer. i just swapped it for a ford/motorcraft alt. it is the most common alt. for most ford vans of that era. i had to file down one spot so it would fit in the gen. bracket. what i need is a wiring diagram for the alt./ and or complete schematic for the truck. also, i was wondering what a good automatic tranny would be able to be swapped easily for the slow 3-speed. tired of only goin' 50mph. like to at least get it up to 75, that way i can keep up with the slow drivers. thank you so much for any replies, grego
