1936-1946 chevy truck windshield regulator

Tired of buying expensive used units with cracked tongue. Am interested in making some of the spring steel tongues used in the windhsield regulators on chevy, gmc trucks and plymouth cars. Mechs are different but tongues are the same materials. Would appreciate any help in finding material, punching, etc.

I can't be the only person who ever had this problem
