Shorten '57 Chev 1 1/2 ton frame?

I have a '57 5700 LCF Chev with 162 1/2 inch wheel base and am thinking I'd rather have the 112 inch wheel base. Has anyone out there shortened a truck frame, and if so, how did it work out?
