Ford Alternator

Posted by Slowpoke on January 10, 2007 at 00:49:03 from (12.72.158.239):

I have the Ford parts list CD for '80-'89 pickups. The alternator on my '86 F250, 460 is 65A E7AFDA K625C, 2 grove pulley. I can find no such number in the parts list or in the application chart. Also the application chart calls for a 6 grove pulley. I think this alternator is pre 1980 and not original to the truck. I had it tested off the truck and it failed Voltage Regulator, Diodes, and Rectifier test. I thought heavy current diodes replaced rectifiers in today's electronics. Am I right?

I'd like to rebuild it myself but I think if I ordered a kit by application I'd get the wrong parts. A kit is 1/2 the price of a local rebuilder. Any ideas and comments welcome.
Thanks
