Single wheel into a dually

Posted by Greywolf on November 17, 2006 at 05:26:45 from (64.72.182.226):

I have a heavy 76 3/4 Chevy PU 4 X 4 with the 8 bolt rim and 14 bolt floating axle rearend.

I'd like to go from the single to a dual wheel set up for stability and added carrying capacity. Already have added spring assists. I'm aware of "stopping" at GVW ratings.

Anyone know if the 16.5 rims can be had in dual configuration or will i have to go an adapter route and hike up to 19 inch rims and rubber.

Gear ratio is 4.10 so I'm not interested in going down to the 16". Want to go up for a more efficient final gear ratio.

TIA for the answers.
