HELP flat head ford runs hot??

had over heating issues with my 53 239 cui flat head,replaced thermostats with 160 degree stats,flush radiator and egine,gauge reads bettween 1/2 and 3/4and will go up to 3/4 truck does not seem to bee over heating,coolant is not bubling out or steaming over-maybe a faulty sender ?
