Sinking Brakes -occasionally- 90 Dodge PUPosted by Dave in OR on August 11, 2006 at 22:11:30 from (207.69.139.8):
I recently bought a 1990 Dodge 350 4x4 Diesel pickup and this brake problem has me stumped. Once in a while, not always, I start the truck, let it warm up a little and drive out. I then hit the brake pedal and it goes to the floor. This is not a good situation. The first time it happened, I pumped the pedal twice and got brakes again. After that, no problems braking. The pedal stayed up all day. Another day, I headed into a parking spot and stopped, no problem. When I backed out a few minutes later and went to stop, the brakes went to the floor. The truck has a new vacuum booster and Rebuilt master cylinder. I thought about the vacuum pump, but usually when they fail, they fail. Can anyone explain these gremlins? Thanks in advance.
