1986 F250 second to third gear shift(C6)

My F250 has a little hesitation shifting from 2nd to third.Will a modulator valve fix this?It takes third firmly and doesen't slip once it goes in.It's just that little delay that I don't like.Thanks for any help.Jack(TN).
