Purists, forgive mePosted by Mark on May 29, 2002 at 11:11:24 from (207.193.225.250):
I have an idea of rebuilding a '55 Chevy truck, with a modern eng/trans. What I would like is a lighter weight diesel engine/auto. trans combo, perhaps foreign, as I know the front end would have to be "beefed" up for a modern truck diesel engine. Nothing fancy, just a simple engine. I like the design of this truck, and was thinking of making a driveable runaround truck, which would get great fuel economy with a diesel and have sufficient power, but doesnt have to be a powerhouse. Any ideas? (Remember, this is just an idea.) Thanks.
