'49 Chevy 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton chassis differences

Posted by greenbeanman in Kansas on July 03, 2005 at 06:46:12 from (4.244.105.154):

I have come across a ½ ton 5 window Chevy for sale that is in need of a steering box.

I know where there is a 3/4 ton chassis that has been sanded, primed, and painted, and set up for a V-8 with automatic transmission, and it has a steering box. It is an Ebay item that didn't sell.

Rather than just robbing the steering box I'm wondering about just moving the body of the ½ on over onto it.

Since I have been dealing with my 1 ton straight frame chassis I know nothing about the differences between the 3/4 ton and the 1/2 ton.

Would one of you enlighten me please.

Thanks!
