The 292 engine block has the right motor mount pad several inches forward of where it would be on the smaller 230-250 sixes or a V8.I suspect it takers a special 292 frame pad. I installed a 292 in an 80 GMC K 3500 that originally had a V8. I had to fabricate an adapter plate to locate the right frame adapter(V8) far enough forward to align with the 292 motor mount pad.
